NY spot Gold prices broke a new record high and are now above $1600 per troy oz.  This new price level is the highest ever.

Ominous start for gold prices in 2011?

The 1st four days of trading, the price has fallen in US dollars. 

Gold's new all time high (set today) is

$1350.40 per troy ounce.

Silver's new 30 year high was set today at

$23.21 per troy ounce.

holy moly

gold dropped 3% and closed at $1200/oz.  This is a huge test, can it hold above 1200?

Today's new record is $1263.50 (possibly still climbing).

$1200 may be gold's new floor.
